From the Principal

Dear Parents, Staff and Students

First Communion Congratulations

This Sunday, our Year 4 students will be taking an important step in their faith journey as they receive their First Communion at St Francis of Assisi Church. We wish them all the best as they prepare for this special day, and we are thrilled to share in their joy. May this milestone bring them closer to their faith and may they continue to grow in love and understanding of Jesus. Sincerest thanks to Ms Bettridge and Mrs Keddie for preparing the children to receive their Sacrament, and for preparing the Mass.  Thanks to Fr Joseph and the Parish Catechist Team for their support.  Finally, thank you to the parents of the Year 4 children for their support, encouragement and guidance of their children in this journey of faith. We are so proud of each one of them! Congratulations, Year 4!

Thank you to our Matthew Gibney Choir

The school choir has been busily preparing to lead the singing for the First Communion Mass on Sunday.  Thank you to our choir members for their service to the school by making the time to attend to provide the singing.  Sincerest thanks to Mrs Aldred for preparing the choir.  We know the singing and music will add a special aspect to the ceremony.

Family Library

We are pleased to offer our parents a Family Library of wellbeing books, available for borrowing from the administration office.  There is a wide selection of titles available for parents to borrow  at any time.  Our Social Worker, Chloe Grant, has worked hard to select titles that parents will find useful.  Please pop in, at any time, and borrow the books that are available to you. Please ensure you let Julie West know which books you would like to borrow.

Congratulations to our Week 8 Merit Award Recipients

Mid-Year Report Workshop: 21 June 2.30pm

Teachers are busily preparing Mid-Year Reports for students from Pre-Primary to Year Six.  The Mid-Year Reports provide parents with a progress report of how each child has achieved against the outcomes presented across all learning areas in Term 1 and Term 2.

Miss Zurzolo will facilitate a parent workshop to explain the reporting procedure.  The workshop will be held on 21 June at 2.30 pm in the library.  All parents are welcome to attend.  Pre-Primary parents who are receiving a report for the first time are strongly encouraged to attend.

P&F Wine Fundraiser

The P&F have organised a wine fundraiser to assist them in raising funds for the refurbishment of the basketball court.  We are hoping to be able to complete the court refurbishment early in 2025.  All money raised will go towards this project.  Please share the fundraiser with family and friends.  Details and a flier are available in this newsletter.

Year 1 and 2 Toilet Building Update

I was pleased to meet with the builders earlier this week and see that everything is on schedule for the completion of the toilet block at the end of this term.  We look forward to the Year 1 and 2 children using their new toilet facilities from the commencement of Term 3.

Next Week

Our best wishes, once again, to the Year 4 students, their families, and teachers, for a wonderful First Communion Mass on Sunday morning.

We look forward to welcoming Mr Wayne Bull, CEWA Director, to visit the school on Tuesday 11 June.

The children will participate in a Musica Viva Incursion next week.  This is something to be looking forward to as Musica Viva are always entertaining, as well as educational.

We welcome Mr Clinton Payne, Semester Two Principal, as he makes his first visit on Thursday.

Best wishes to Year 5 and 6 students as they participate in the Winter Carnival next Friday.

I hope you all enjoy the weekend.

Warm regards.

Therese Hussey

Recently I came across a company called Learning Links offering FREE parenting webinars that look really helpful for so many of us.

Use the QR code below to see the upcoming webinars and also subscribe so you know what’s coming up.

I’d love to hear what you think.
