From the Principal

Dear Parents, Staff and Students

Pupil Free Days

Parents are reminded that we are pupil free on Friday 31 May and Tuesday 4 June.  Staff are participating in a faith day on Friday and will be attending a regional professional development day on student wellbeing on Tuesday. Staff and students return to school on Wednesday 5th June.  Enjoy the extra-long weekend.

WA Day Public Holiday

Monday, June 4 marks WA Day, a public holiday that celebrates the unique culture, history, and community of Western Australia. This special day provides an opportunity to reflect on and appreciate the beauty and diversity of our great state. We hope you have a wonderful WA Day long weekend.

Year 4 First Communion Retreat

Today our Year 4 students are enjoying their First Communion Retreat Day, facilitated by the youth leaders from 24:7 Youth Ministries.  The children are participating in a range of activities to reflect upon the mystery of the Eucharist.  As the children prepare to receive Jesus for the first time in the Eucharist, it is important that they are fully prepared, both academically in their knowledge and understanding, and spiritually within their heart and soul.  We hope the activities the children participate in today assist them to deeply appreciate the gift of Jesus in the Eucharist, that they will receive for the first time on 9 June.

Dear Lord,

We pray for our children, given to us to be cherished and loved,

Be with them as they are guided and instructed by their parents and teachers,

to know your son Jesus and remain a true friend of his.

We ask you to bless them in their preparation during this special time of developing their faith.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Feast of the Visitation

On Friday, May 31, we celebrate the Feast of the Visitation, a special day in the Catholic Church that honors the visit of Mary, the mother of Jesus, to her cousin Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist. This feast day celebrates the joy and wonder of this special meeting, as well as the values of love, kindness, and generosity that Mary and Elizabeth embodied. As a school community, we encourage all students and staff to witness these values in their daily lives and to continue the spirit of love and generosity that Mary and Elizabeth showed to each other.

Inter School Cross Country Competition

Congratulations to the students from Year 3-6 who participated in the Inter School Cross Country Carnival last week.  It was a particularly warm day!  However, our children pushed through and achieved some excellent results on the day.  Most importantly, it was terrific to see them supporting and congratulating each other.  Our school achieved 5th place out of 9 schools. A great effort!  Congratulations to Meabh Murphy in Year 3 for coming first in her age level.  Well done, Meabh!

Year 1 and 2 Toilet Building Update

Parents may have noticed that the building works are coming along.  The roof works are now finished and the paving outside the building is almost complete.  Interior works will be commencing shortly. The new building is looking terrific, and we are keeping fingers crossed for an end of term completion date.

Best Wishes to Mrs Honter

We send our best wishes to Alison Honter, who commences her long service leave this week. Alison will be away until the commencement of Term Three as she travels with her Mum back to Scotland.  Sincerest thanks to our wonderful canteen volunteers who will be managing the canteen during Alison’s absence.

Next Week

The Year 4 students will be having a rehearsal for their First Communion at St Francis of Assisi Church after school on Thursday 6th June.

Don’t forget the Merit Award Assembly on Friday 7th June at 9.00am.

Please continue to keep the Year 4 class in your prayers as they prepare to receive their First Communion on Sunday 9th June at 11.00am.

Have a wonderful long weekend.  Keep warm!

Warm regards.

Therese Hussey
